Halotherapy also known as dry salt therapy is the perfect way to escape the world and take a few minutes for ultimate self-care. In our beautiful salt rooms, you will be surrounded by an environment inspired by tranquility, relaxation and rejuvenation to help you unwind.
If you have ever been oceanside for a holiday you will have noticed your breathing became clearer the longer you stayed. That is because you were breathing evaporated salt water which cleared your sinus cavities much like using a Nettie pot. Dry salt therapy is even more effective since the salt is dry, not moist.
Dry salt therapy is very simple to understand; There are three primary characteristics of pure sodium chloride (pharmaceutical salt), NaCl, known as salt;
Salt is super absorbent (especially when it is completely dry)
Salt is anti-bacterial
Salt is anti-inflammatory
Dry salt is placed into a halogenerator that precisely grinds the salt into specific micro-sized particles. During your session, the salt aerosol is dispersed into the air while you simply breathe and relax.
As the salt travels in the salt room, these salt particles are inhaled into the respiratory system. Dry salt naturally stars absorbing allergens, toxins and foreign substances into the lungs and throughout your respiratory tract. Because everything in our respiratory system is moist, any pathogen that comes in contact with the salt becomes neutralized and absorbed, salt is also water soluble so your body can now dispose of the pathogens through your waste system. This is why we encourage clients to drink some extra water after their session.
Everything about your salt session is subtle and calming, in fact many people fall asleep during their session. There are protocols for different ailments so it’s also important that you make sure you have a consultation with our certified halotherapist before your first session.
We cannot make any therapeutic claims on dry salt therapy because there has been no North American studies on its effectiveness. However, a large number of research conducted around the world have shown it to be a complimentary therapy for respiratory and skin conditions.
